For four decades Midnight Pass was closed off, a legendary stretch of coastline that locals could only remember from years gone by. Then Hurricane Milton swept through and carved the pass open again — reconnecting the Gulf with the bay and bringing one of Florida's most storied waterways back to life.

Today the reopened pass funnels in clear, bright blue Gulf water that you can see straight to the bottom. The sand here is some of the whitest and softest on the Gulf Coast — powdery white shoals that shift with the tide and make perfect ground for shelling and swimming.
